For over three decades, Archon Paul L. Griffin, Jr. has dedicated his career to advancing education throughout the United States, fostering connections with school districts, community service organizations, and industry professionals. His extensive experience has positioned him as a trusted figure among key leaders in both the education and business sectors.
Having spent 22 years at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing, Archon Griffin concluded his tenure in 2017 as the Vice President of Strategic Relationships. In 2020, he transitioned to Amplify Education, assuming the role of Vice President for Strategic Urban Initiatives. Amplify, an esteemed education technology company, specializes in providing cutting-edge assessment and analytics for data-driven instruction and next-generation digital curriculum. In this capacity, Archon Griffin collaborates with a dedicated team to deliver digital educational solutions to administrators, superintendents, and community stakeholders nationwide.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Archon Griffin is deeply committed to community development and service. Currently, he serves on the board of directors for the Desoto Economic Development Corporation and The Boulé Foundation. In Dallas, he played a pivotal role on the board of the Alpha Epsilon Boulé Education Foundation, Inc. Nationally, Archon Griffin contributed as an Advisory Board member of the National League of Cities, Institute for Youth, Education, and Families in Washington, D.C., working to empower municipal leaders in advocating for children, youth, and families.
Within Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Archon Griffin holds the position of Chair for The Parity Project Committee. He has previously served as Chair of the Grand Social Action Committee and Grapter of the Western Region Boulé. Archon Griffin is a supporter of the Boulé Foundation and has achieved Archon William Sylvester “Turk” Thompson Legacy Award status. Archon Griffin is a life member of several distinguished organizations, including the NAACP, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). His leadership within Phi Beta Sigma includes serving as the 32nd International President from 2005-2009. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honored with Phi Beta Sigma’s highest award, the Distinguished Service Key, and induction into the Distinguished Service Chapter in July 2013. Additionally, in 2015, he received The President’s Award from the National Alliance of Black School Educators.
Archon Griffin’s influence extends beyond his professional and fraternal affiliations, earning him a place in Ebony Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Black Americans in the Organizational Leader category. He holds an honorary fellowship with the Pi Eta Kappa Honor Society at Medgar Evers College in New York and has been recognized as an Esteemed Alumnus of Texas Southern University. A proud 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner (Prince Hall affiliated), Archon Griffin earned his B.S. and M.A. degrees from Houston’s historically black institution, Texas Southern University.
Archon Griffin, alongside his Archousa, Belinda, calls Desoto, Texas, home—a suburb of Dallas—where they share their lives with their two adult daughters.
