This summer, three Henry Ford College students participated in Base 11’s fellowship program. They spent July and August in Southern California, doing engineering projects and two of the nation’s top research universities — and got paid for it!
Hector Ochoa spent the summer at Caltech, doing research with graduate student mentors in aerospace engineering.
A few miles south, at the University of California, Irvine Huda Sudaki and Will O’Connell were working as a team to design and build a drone in the Autonomous Systems Engineering Academy.
These Henry Ford College students had incredible summer engineering experiences that put them on the path to success in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Meet Henry Ford College’s 2016 Base 11 Fellows:
Hector Ochoa
“When I arrived at Caltech the feeling I got from walking around the school was as if I was dreaming. It was surreal ….”
Read Hector’s story of overcoming his fears of being at Caltech.
Huda Sedaki
“This internship really enriched my resume …. This was a positive experience, to be a woman in an engineering internship.”
Will O’Connell
“Now that I’ve built the quadcopter, I have a better idea how to find and approach problems I want to solve.”
