Facebook recently launched TechPrep, a resource hub offered in both Spanish and English, where aspiring STEM students and their parents can learn more about computer science and how to get started as future programmers.

TechPrep came after Facebook commissioned consulting firm McKinsey&Company to work on a study that found students would like to approach tech jobs, but a majority of parents said they did not know how to help their child pursue a career in computer science.

“By exposing people to computer science and programming and guiding them to the resources they need to get started, we hope to reduce some of the barriers that block potential from meeting opportunity,” Maxine Williams, Facebook’s global director of diversity, wrote in an Oct. 20 blog post.

TechPrep features games, books, in-person opportunities and community events to help potential STEM students as well as their parents and guardians guide their kids into computer science and programming. It also includes profiles of real people pursuing these careers.

If you’re interested in a career in computer programming and would like to know how to get started, definitely check out Facebook’s TechPrep and let us know what you think!
